MSc (Eng) and a B.Com (honours) in Portfolio Management and Financial Analysis from the University of Cape Town
Tom worked for McKinsey & Co for five years, working across Private Equity; Retail; Consumer Goods; Energy; Mining; Transport and Logistics. While an Associate, he worked substantially in large scale Operations Performance Transformations. Moving on to focus on Strategy and Organisational work as an Engagement Manager. Tom led an internal productivity initiative for the firm - leading programme development and execution across EMEA.
With a keen interest in high-impact, growing businesses and moving a company from “owner managed” to a medium/large enterprise; Tom joined a small, profit-with-purpose life insurer. Tom was intricately involved in formulation of over-arching strategy and the cross-functional nuances and dependencies required to deliver the corporate strategy. Tom played a key role in the strategic development, structuring and scaling of business functions across the business.
Tom is a guest lecturer at the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business and is an accredited Enneagram practitioner.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys skydiving, fly-fishing, wine, leisure mountain biking, petanque, and yoga.
